How to set up your eSIM

Installing an iMESIM travel eSIM is simple. Follow the steps below before you travel, then turn on the eSIM when you arrive at your destination.

Before you start

  • Make sure your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked.
  • Connect to stable Wi-Fi before installing your eSIM.
  • Keep your QR code open on another device, printed, or saved where you can scan it.
  • Do not delete the eSIM after installing it. Deleted eSIMs usually cannot be restored.

Quick setup flow

  1. Buy your plan. Choose your destination, data amount, and service days.
  2. Receive your QR code. Your eSIM information is delivered digitally after purchase.
  3. Install before departure. Add the eSIM while connected to Wi-Fi.
  4. Turn it on when you arrive. Select the travel eSIM for mobile data and enable data roaming.

iPhone setup

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap Cellular or Mobile Data.
  3. Tap Add eSIM.
  4. Select Use QR Code and scan your QR code.
  5. Tap Continue and label the line as Travel.
  6. Keep your primary SIM as the default line for calls and messages if needed.

  2. Tap Connections.
  3. Open SIM Manager.

  2. Turn on your Travel line.
  3. Select your Travel line for Cellular Data or Mobile Data.
  4. Turn on Data Roaming for the iMESIM eSIM.
  5. Wait a few minutes for the local network to connect.

If you see an activation message

If you install the eSIM before departure, your phone may show messages such as Activating, Unable to Activate, or No Service. This can happen when the eSIM is not yet connected to the destination network. In many cases, the eSIM will connect normally after you arrive and turn on data roaming.

Troubleshooting checklist

  • Check that the destination and plan you purchased match your travel country.
  • Make sure the iMESIM line is turned on.
  • Make sure data roaming is enabled for the iMESIM line.
  • Restart your phone after changing cellular settings.
  • Try manual network selection if your phone does not connect automatically.
  • Contact us before deleting the eSIM if you still need help.
